Rapper Sean Kingston has received a sentence of three and a half years in federal prison after being found guilty in a million-dollar fraud scheme.
He and his mother were both convicted earlier in the year for being part of a wire fraud scheme through which they stole luxury items like watches, a 232-inch LED TV, a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade and furniture, the cost exceeding $1 million.
Born Kisean Anderson, the prosecutors claimed that the rapper and his mother would utilize his fame to get people to give them things and would then send fake wire receipts when asked for payment.
His mother, Janice Turner ended up receiving a five year sentence for her crimes.
Anderson is known for tracks like Fire Burning, Take You There and Eenie Meenie feat Justin Bieber, and was arrested in 2024.
It took place after the authorities raided his home in Fort Lauderdale, from where his mother was also taken into custody.
According to the prosecutors, he would reach out to the victims and offer to promote their products and also refer them to other "high profile celebrities".
Most of the victims never received payments, although some did after the authorities got involved.
