Tristan Rogers, who played a dashing spy Robert Scorpio in daytime soap General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 79.
The news of his sad passing was confirmed by his manager Meryl Soodak with ABC7 News, announcing that the actor died Friday morning.
According to Merly, the character of the international spy “meant everything to him.”
Few weeks ago, Tristan was diagnosed with lung cancer which was revealed to the public by his friend Anthony Turk in a press release.
It was announced that the Emmy Award winner is “hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan.”
His spokesperson requested for “privacy and understanding” as the TV star and his family were going through difficult time after the diagnosis.
Unfortunately, he lost the battle to the ailment at the age of 79, quietly passing away.
After his death was confirmed, tributes started pouring in where the executive producer Frank Valentini called Tristan "one-of-a-kind talent.”
Apart from his role in the series, the beloved star has also voiced Jake in The Rescuers Down Under of Walt Disney.
The Australian star leaves behind his children Sara Jane and Cale, his wife Teresa Parkerson.
