Jackie Chan receives top Lifetime accolade at Locarno Festival

Jackie Chan, the famous martial arts star, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 78th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

The ceremony celebrated the Hong Kong icon with this prestigious accolade, recognising his lasting impact on cinema.

Chan greeted the crowd with a warm “Buona sera” and a wave as he took to the stage.

He joked that the award was “very, very heavy” but quickly expressed how “happy and honoured” he was to attend.

The stunt master credited fellow filmmakers and thanked his fans, adding, “Because of you, I am standing here.”

The 71-year-old star further recalled his father asking if he could still fight at 60.

He proudly replied, “I am 71. I still can fight.”

Before leaving the stage, he said, “Love and peace. Love you all! Ti amo!” while blowing kisses to the audience.

Supporters showed their excitement ahead of his arrival, wearing Chan T-shirts and holding signs reading “I Love Jackie Chan.”

As part of the tribute, he introduced two classic films, Project A (1983) and Police Story (1985), highlighting his roles as star and director.

Locarno’s artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro, also praised Chan’s influence on film, describing him as “a director, actor, stuntman and more.”
