Beloved South Korean actor Song Young-kyu, best known for his part in the smash hit Extreme Job, has passed away at the age of 55.

He was discovered unresponsive in a car in south of Seoul at Cheoin-gu, Yongin, early in the morning.

Local authorities have confirmed that there are so signs of foul play and there was no indication of suicide.

His body was discovered by an acquaintance.

Song made his acting debut in a children’s musical in 1994, going onto build a successful career across theater, film and television in the later decades.

He was identified primarily through his successful supporting roles in projects like Trick, Stove League, Baseball Girl and Hyena.

His role in Extreme Job, which is considered to be one of the most commercially successful Korean films, only cemented his skills further.

A few months earlier, the actor was involved in a DUI incident in Yongin, having driven around five kilometers with enough substances in his system to require a license revocation under South Korean law.

After the incident, he stepped back from the production of Shakespeare in Love and was either removed or minimized from shows like ENA’s The Defects and SBS’s The Winning Try.
