Inside Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer years-long custody battle

Tobey Maguire is seeking joint custody of his teenage son, Otis Tobaire Maguire, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Meyers.

As per the court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the 50-year-old actor is asking for private mediation to determine child and spousal support.

The custody battle has been ongoing since Jennifer filed for divorce in 2020, four years after the couple announced their separation, though they were still co-parenting.

Notably, Tobey and Jennifer share two children throughout their nine-year marriage: an 18-year-old daughter, Ruby Sweetheart Maguire, and a 15-year-old son, Otis Tobey Maguire.

The pair initially met in 2003 when the Spiderman star was filming Seabiscuit at Universal Studios, and got engaged in 2006. They welcomed Ruby the same year and Otis three years later.

In 2016, Jennifer announced their separation in a statement, “After much soul searching and consideration, we have decided to separate as a couple.”

However, recently, the former couple set aside their differences to attend an important event concerning their daughter.

On June 1, the jewellery designer shared an Instagram post celebrating Ruby’s high school graduation.

She captioned the photo, “We are so proud of you in every way. We love love love love love you, baby.”

The post attracted attention from fans since Tobey appeared in multiple family photos smiling ear to ear.
