Billy Joel felt like a ‘homewrecker’ after having affair

Billy Joel is opening up about harboring feelings for his friend's wife in the documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes.

He had been living with his best friend Jon Small and his wife Elizabeth while the two were in a musical duo called Attila when they were in their early 20s.

The singer ended up confessing to his friend that he was in love with his wife, "I was just in love with a woman, and I got punched in the nose, which I deserved. I felt very, very guilty about it. They had a child, you know? I felt like a homewrecker."

Joel was diagnosed with a major brain condition earlier this year which led to him cancelling all of his shows.

Steve Cohen, who has been a long time collaborator and is also the executive producer of the documentary, remarked that he hopes the singer will make a return.

"I always look at it as a gift when he walks on stage," he explained. "I can't predict. I do know that the Billy Joel that I had dinner with last night, that's the Billy Joel that I know. So, look, it's up to him. If he feels like he wants to, you know, ‘play’ Billy Joel on stage again, we're all gonna be there for him."
