Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are on level playing field once again, as the judge presiding over their case dismisses one of the former’s claims.
The It Ends With Us actress had named Jed Wallace, a social media and PR specialist and his company Street Relations as being one of the parties involved in orchestrating a smear campaign against her.
However, judge Lewis Liman allowed Wallace to remove himself from the civil rights lawsuit due to a technicality.
The judge noted that the suit was filed in New York City, but the defendant was based in Texas, causing problems with the jurisdiction.
In court filings obtained by media outlets, the Judge ruled, “The Wallace Defendant’s motion to dismiss must be granted because the Court lacks personal jurisdiction over them.”
Liman went on to state that the some of the alleged actions that pertained to New York were taken by others, and the Wallace Defendants were not aware of them, according to claims.
“Therefore, the Wallace Defendants cannot be forced to defend this lawsuit in New York,” the report concluded.
Notably, Lively was recently granted permission to take her deposition at her lawyer’s office, despite protests by Baldoni’s attorneys.
In 2024, the Betty Buzz owner complained about feeling uncomfortable while filming It Ends With Us along with the director of the movie.
She later filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, further accusing him of organising a smear campaign to defame her.
The Jane the Virgin actor denied the allegations and responded with a $400 million defamation lawsuit, which has now been dismissed.
