Superman is full of A-lister cameos but there’s one particular collaboration that happened due to film director James Gunn’s past connection with Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The superhero action movie, which is having a successful run at box office, saw the appearance of Bradley Cooper as Jor-El in the opening moments.

The 50-year-old American Sniper star took on the role of late actor Marlando Bloom, who starred in Christopher Reeve led 1978 movie.

Opening up about the cameo, the CEO of DC Studios said, “I needed someone to play Jor-El, someone who had the stature of what we imagine that character being."

He went on to explain that the character was 70 when he had a baby “So I needed someone who wasn’t too old and everybody was bringing actors that were too old for me”.

He continued, “Bradley is a friend of mine and I think he was perfect. He did a favor for me and I really appreciate him doing it.”

For the unversed, the three-time Grammy winner Limitless actor voiced the fierce raccoon rocket in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

The David Corenswett lead movie features other cameos of John Cena, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Milly Alcock and Will Reeves.

Why James Gunn left MCU?

According to IMDb, James Gunn was fired from Marvel in 2018 after a series of offensive old tweets resurfaced. The tweets included jokes about pedoph*lia, r*pe and abuse which sparked public outrage, prompting the MCU management to take action against the accalimed director.
