Damson Idris shuts down method acting claims on ‘Chicken Shop Date’

F1 breakout star Damson Idris made it clear that he is not a method actor during Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date on Friday.

The well-liked host and YouTuber asked Idris about his acting practice while they were out for some chicken and chips, but it seems that rumours about his method acting have been greatly overblown.

Dimoldenberg said at the top of the date, “You do Method acting.”

The actor from Snowfall sidestepped the question by stating, “It's hotter than Satan's toenails in here.” Dimoldenberg responded that he was wearing a full leather trousers suit before turning back to the original question, “I heard that you like to stay in character.”

“I mean, I’m not a Method actor, like what?” he joked.

The host gave in and said, "Okay, fine," before revealing that she had heard his family was unhappy that he maintained an American accent at home.

In reference to his six seasons as the show's lead on FX, he remarked, "That was in the beginning when I was just trying to figure out, that was Franklin you're talking about."

“Very quickly they were like, ‘Shut up and talk normal,’” he said of his family’s response to him staying in character.

In Apple Studios' F1 racing movie, Idris plays Joshua Pearce opposite Brad Pitt. He told Dimoldenberg that while working on the movie, he became close to renowned F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who produced the movie.
