Tom Holland's love for football helps him in filming 'The Odyssey'

Tom Holland revealed how his love for football helped him deliver his strongest performance while filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

In conversation with GQ Sports, the Spider-Man actor shared how Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League victory energised him during a crucial scene.

“I went to my trailer for lunch and caught the last 10 minutes of the game, and my celebration was coming back to set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene. So that was really fun," he told Yi Goh.

Due to Nolan’s strict no-phone policy on set, the 29-year-old relied on crew members for match updates.

“I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates," he admitted.

A die-hard Tottenham Hotspur supporter, Holland gushed about captain Son Heung-min’s long-awaited trophy and has commended him on multiple occasions.

Zendaya's partner said, I was incredibly happy for Sonny [Son Heung-min]. For me to see him win a trophy after years of dedication to our club.”

Later in the interview, Holland expressed praise for director Nolan, calling him “the best in the business” and “a true master of his craft.” He mentioned that playing this role provided him with the best experience on a film set.

In The Odyssey, the renowned Hollywood star will play Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon. Notably, the film is set to be released in July 2026.
