Sofia Vergara honoured with giant statue on major milestone

Sofia Vergara, Colombian-American actress, gets statue treatment on her 53rd birthday for remarkable contribution to the entertainment industry and for putting the hometown name (Barranquilla) in international recognition.

America Got Talent ex-judge, turned to Instagram and posted: “Thank you my beautiful Barranquilla for this gift.”

“I never imagined that my history, my work and my dreams would leave such a significant mark on this earth that I love, respect and long for so much,” the Hot Pursuit actress continued.

Screen Actors Guild Award winner dedicated her success to beloved people: “I thank Barranquilla for everything I am. I owe all that I have accomplished to the strength, the willpower, and the joy I breathe on this earth.”

The Simpsons voice actor concluded emotionally: “This statue is not only in my honor, but in honor of the Barranquillero people and in honor of my family and friends who have always been with me. I love them so much! Toty.”

Vergara’s sculpture took seven months to complete and Yino Márquez crafted it with 35 students. Márquez is the same artist who sculpted the Shakira's statue back in December, 2023.

The Walk of Fame star's monument is 7.5 meters tall and weighs around 5.5 tons. Gran Malecón is home of bronze carved Vergara and fans celebrated her legacy by appearing at the unveiling ceremony as well as on social media.
