Former Modern Family actress Ariel Winter revealed rare insights from her traumatic childhood experiences.
In a recent interview, the 27-year-old actress, who began working at the age of four, opened up about how she was exploited by the Hollywood industry early in her career.
“I am familiar with male predators because I worked in Hollywood at a young age,” she told Daily Mail in an interview published on July 10.
The American actress who gained fame for her character Alex Dunphy in the ABC hit sitcom Modern Family shared to the interviewer that, as a child star with early access to digital devices, she received inappropriate messages from older men, which affected her mental health.
Furthermore the Last Movie Star actress stated, the experiences she had in person and online as a child have affected her so deeply that she had to seek professional help.
However, the Safelight star mentioned that the movie and TV industry has its dark side.
Moreover, she noted, “I was just like, God, I would love to be able to help be a part of that. I don’t want to say there’s a solution, but I would love to help take some of these people off the streets.”
For the unversed, Winter is currently volunteering as a decoy for the organization SOSA (Safe From Online Sex Abuse).
Ariel Winter was just 11 years old when Modern Family aired its first season.
