Jurassic World Rebirth starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey has carved out the first place at South Korean box office for July 4-6 by earning $5.6 million across 1645 screens.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the dinosaur-based movie accounted for 45.2% of the market according to KOBIS, the tracking services operated by Korean Film Council.
Based on the earlier weekday previews, the movie has garnered $7.3 million in South Korea.
In contrast to Jurassic World Rebirth, Kim Soo-Jin’s psychological horror movie, Noise, now hold up the second position. With an impressive $2.3 million and 326,270 admissions, the movie’s total gross has reached $4.7 million.
Brad Pitt’s high-octane racing movie F1: The Movie has dropped to no. 3 with $2.6 million from 320,675 admissions. Cumulatively, the movie has gathered $7.8 million in total.
DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon landed in fourth position, adding $687,056 and taking the total to $12.3 million. Elio followed in fifth place as Disney-Pixar’s movie garnered a cumulative $3.6 million.
Local production, Hi-Five claimed the six position and Studio Ghibli’s timeless classic Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Winds marked the seventh position.
Mission: Impossible–The Final Reckoning secured the eight position with $24.1million in total.
Nameless and 28 Years Later secured ninth and ten positions respectively.
The top 10 movies at South Korea box office collectively earned $12.1 million over July 4-6 weekend, leading to a significant rise.
Jurassic World Rebirth is a win for Hollywood as the movie hatches the new era for the Jurassic franchise with a global opening of $318.3 million, the biggest worldwide opening of the year to date.
