T.I. is embroiled in a legal dispute after TV producer Cylia Senii accused the rapper-turned-filmmaker of using the title of her long-running web series Situationships for his upcoming comedy film.
In a lawsuit filed against the Atlanta artist and his company, Grand Hustle Films, Senii alleges that the Grammy winner knowingly infringed upon her intellectual property by using the same title for his movie.
Senii’s further claims that the Whatever You Like hitmaker’s project mirrors the concept of her original series and her legal team is seeking both damages and an injunction to prevent the film’s release.
The producer launched Situationships in 2016, with the series focusing on modern dating and relationships, running through 2024.
The series is available on various platforms, including YouTube, BET Digital, Amazon Prime and Tubi.
The lawsuit states that Senii sent a cease-and-desist letter to T.I. in December 2024 after discovering the film.
The legal complaint further alleges that former members of Senii’s production team later worked on the singer’s movie, raising concerns about potential unauthorised use of her content.
Senii’s team argues that the rapper’s film intentionally capitalises on the reputation and recognition of her series, with the potential to cause consumer confusion.
Additionally, the plaintiff filed opposition to the 44-year-old’s trademark application, which was denied in May 2025.
