Princess Anne is officially set to return to the saddle during this year’s Trooping the Colour parade, marking her first public horseback appearance since her 2024 hospitalisation.

The 74-year-old royal, also known as Anne, Princess Royal, will ride as Gold Stick and Colonel of the Blues and Royals, just shy of her 75th birthday.

The annual military parade, which celebrates the British monarch's official birthday, will take place next weekend in London.

While King Charles III will appear in a carriage with Queen Camilla, Anne will join Prince William, Prince of Wales (Colonel of the Welsh Guard), and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh (Colonel of the Scots and London Guards), all on horseback.

Princess Anne was rushed to hospital in June 2024 after sustaining head injuries reportedly caused by a horse.

She later revealed she had “no memory” of the incident. Despite returning to duties weeks later with a visible black eye, this will be her first time riding in public since.

Her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, is expected to ride in a carriage alongside the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as he did last year.
