Tom Hanks has recently broken his silence over his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Hanks', unfiltered memoir, The 10: A Memoir of Family and the Open Road.
In the memoir, published in April, E.A Hanks made shocking revelations about her mother, Samantha Lewes' mental issues and behaviour. She candidly revealed in her book that Samantha, whose real name was Susan Dillingham, was emotionally and physically abusive.
The Forrest Gump star, 68, addressed the abuse allegations in a conversation at the premiere of his new film, The Phoenician Scheme.
He backed his daughter’s shocking claims, saying, “I think she was incredibly honest about it, and We all come from checkered, cracked lives, all of us.”
The Saving Private Ryan star further claimed that his daughter was a knockout and “always has been.”
In the memoir, Elizabeth Anne sheds light on the “emotional and physical abuse” she experienced at the hands of her mother after the parents’ divorce.
For the unversed, Tom Hanks and Susan Dillingham exchanged vows in January 1978, and parted ways in 1987.
After the divorce, Susan got custody of the children, however, they were only permitted to see their father on weekends.
