Box office queen Scarlett Johansson sets a record for being the first woman to host Saturday Night Live seven times, closing out the show’s milestone 50th season.

The last episode of the long-running American sketch comedy and variety show, which airs live every Saturday night on NBC, came out on May 17, 2025.

The final episode of Season 50 featured record-breaking host Johansson and invited Bad Bunny as the musical guest. The episode included standout sketches, a musical monologue, and a surprise announcement regarding cast member Sarah Sherman's departure.

Following the final episode, the two-time Oscar nominee appeared at the New York premiere last night of the upcoming comedy-adventure movie The Phoenician Scheme.

While speaking to E! News on the red carpet, the indie film darling revealed the fun she had while filming the last episode of the comedy show.

Johansson's description shows how wild and emotional the experience was for her when she said “it felt like a runaway train,” and she described it as if the wheels and the top and bottom were coming off the train.

“I mean, the last sketch that we did,” the host said, “it felt like a big blur, but you try to take your moments as you’re doing it to look around and appreciate the uniqueness of what you’re experiencing and how special it is.”

Johansson concluded that the adrenaline and excitement of the finale episode were reflected in her confession.

The 51st season of Saturday Night Live will commence in the fall of 2025.
