Jamie Lee Curtis calls plastic surgery ‘genocide of women’: here’s why

Jamie Lee Curtis shared her unfiltered thoughts on the plastic surgery trend among women, calling it a “genocide.”

Speaking with The Guardian, the Oscar winner said plastic surgery is “the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who’ve disfigured themselves.”

Jamie acknowledged the weight of the word "genocide," noting that she has been using it for a long time.

“I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance],” she said. “The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers, there’s a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances. And it is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want.”

The Hollywood A-lister confirmed that she doesn’t use filters, adding that if she did and people compared the before and after, they’d likely say: “Oh, well that looks better.”

“But what’s better? Better is fake,” Jamie said. “And there are too many examples – I will not name them – but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people.”

However, Jamie clarified that while she is vocal about the issue, she doesn’t judge her fellow Hollywood stars or friends who choose to undergo plastic surgery.
