This year is continuing to bring in pleasant tidings for Drizzy despite it starting negatively for the artist.

Back in February, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us won five Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year.

A few days later, K-Dot performed the diss track in front of millions of viewers during the Super Bowl 59 halftime show.

The same month, Drake released his collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. The record came out on Valentine’s Day and was a joint effort between the rapper and fellow Canadian PARTYNEXTDOOR.

The album proved to be an instant success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, with Drake tying Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for most chart-topping albums by a solo artist.

As we approach the end of the first half of 2025, the 38-year-old has surpassed another significant milestone.

According to HipHopDX, SSS4U has sold over one million units in the United States, making the album eligible for the Recording Industry Association of America’s Platinum certification.

The news comes as a relief for many of Drake’s fans amid his ongoing controversy with Universal Music Group (UMG).

Fans would also be hoping to receive similar news as Drake recently announced his ninth solo album.

During a livestream with Adin Ross last month, the God’s Plan rapper said to Ross: "Working on a new album right now... It slaps."

When will the Drake vs. UMG trial begin?

The lawsuit filed by Drake’s legal representatives is currently in its initial stages, so the trial is expected to begin in the summer of 2026. However, it is common in defamation cases for the two parties to reach a settlement before the trial.
