Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez quickly became fan-favourites as they praised each other and shared adorable details of their love story online, but a recent appearance rubbed people the wrong way.
The I Said I love You collaborators were asked an innocent question, which quickly escalated into the Eastside producer making a shocking confession about their initial encounters.
The hosts of the Table Manners Podcast asked Selena, who has her own cooking show on HBO Max by the name of Selena + Chef, if she had ever cooked for now-fiancé, Benny.
The Bad Liar singer then revealed an embarrassing instance, in which she asked a friend to deliver soup to him while she waited in the car, unaware that Benny, 37, could see her through the cameras installed outside his house.
The Bad Decisions co-creator then added, “Selena's so insane that when we first started going out on dates, she was so obsessed with being on time.”
He continued, "She used to pull up to my house, minimum 20 minutes early, maybe 30 minutes early, and she would wait outside."
Selena, 32, seemed visibly ashamed by this declaration, and explained that the reason behind her odd behaviour was nervousness.
The clip did not go over well with fans, who noted, “Why would you say something like this publicly about your SO? Very tasteless.”
Another added, “That's not a nice thing to say about someone you're allegedly in love with!”
Notably, the pair has also sparked online debates since being pitted against another high-profile couple, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey.
Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez got engaged in December of 2024, after they confirmed their relationship a year ago in 2023.
