Prince William is reportedly prepared to take serious action against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with royal insiders claiming he’ll strip the couple of their HRH titles when he becomes King.
The latest royal drama was sparked by a photo shared by Meghan’s close friend Jamie Kern Lima, which showed a card sent by the Duchess of Sussex alongside a gift basket.
The card read: “With compliments of HRH the Duchess of Sussex.”
The image quickly reignited controversy over the Sussexes’ use of royal titles despite the 2020 Megxit agreement in which the couple agreed to stop using “His/Her Royal Highness” publicly after stepping down as senior royals.
A spokesperson for the couple downplayed the situation, saying they "do not use HRH titles," while others close to Meghan claimed the duchess only used the styling privately and not for commercial gain.
Still, the incident appears to have struck a nerve within palace circles.
A source told The Daily Beast: “Charles has completely lost control. It’s apparent that Harry and Meghan have every intention of making his final years a misery, just as he feared they would.”
The insider added: “She [Meghan] knows he won’t do anything. There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.”
The late Queen had issued a statement at the time supporting the Sussexes’ desire for a more independent life but emphasized that stepping away from royal duties would mean giving up certain privileges, including using "HRH" publicly.
Along with dropping the titles, the Sussexes agreed to renounce public funding, withdraw from the Royal Rota media system, and relinquish Harry’s military appointments.
Meghan’s casual use of the "HRH" moniker on a public gift is raising fresh questions about whether the Sussexes are blurring the lines between royal life and private ventures.
