James Arthur reveals why Liam Payne reached out to him

Singer James Arthur revealed that One Direction’s late star Liam Payne reached out to him after he won The X-Factor in 2012.

Liam previously starred on X-factor UK where he was put in a band with 4 other boys that became One Direction.

After Liam’s tragic death in October 2024, many celebrities came forward to share their grief for the singer’s tragic death, James being the most recent one.

James said Liam reached out to him after he won and was new to the fame he was having a hard time coping with.

“When I won the show and publicly struggled a little bit, he reached out to a mutual friend of ours and requested to have a one-to-one with me and have a chat with me:, the singer said on Lorraine.

The 37-year-old clarified that him and the One Direction star were not best friends but Liam understood his position as he was in it previously that made him give James a pep-talk.

“He went out of his way to be like, ‘I went through this’, and that’s the kind of person he was.”

The Say You Won’t Let Me Go singer also expressed his admiration for the late pop star’s kindness saying “I’ll never forget how kind he was at that time”.
