The acclaimed documentary series, produced by Lucasfilm and Imagine Entertainment, continues to explore the legacy of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), now marking its 50th anniversary.
Season 2 delves into ILM's transformative years during the 1990s and early 2000s, highlighting the company's pioneering efforts in digital visual effects.
The series examines milestones such as the creation of the first fully realised CGI character and the development of digital water effects, showcasing ILM's role in revolutionising the visual effects industry.
The panel at Star Wars Celebration featured video messages from director Joe Johnston and executive producer Ron Howard.
Johnston, an original ILM member, emphasised the importance of documenting the digital revolution's impact on filmmaking. Howard highlighted the series' focus on the unsung artists whose innovations have shaped modern cinema.
Moderated by voice artist Sam Witwer, the panel included notable figures such as Ahmed Best, known for his role as Jar Jar Binks; Lynwen Brennan, Lucasfilm's president and general manager; Janet Lewin, ILM's senior vice president and general manager; John Knoll, ILM's executive creative director; Rob Coleman, ILM's creative director; and Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm's senior vice president and executive design director.
