HBO has announced some of the casting decisions behind a few of the more important roles in the upcoming Harry Potter television series.

Actor Luke Thallon will be taking on the role of Professor Quirinus Quirrell while Paul Whitehouse will be playing Argus Filch.

The show’s executive producers said, “We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life,"

The role of Quirrell was played by Ian Hart in the original films.

Thallon recently sat down for an interview with Deadline where he said, “I would love to do something on screen. I really would. There’s no pretending that I turn lots of things down, but I’m just waiting for the reason to go to screen to be as exciting and as fulfilling as the things I get to do on stage now.“

Meanwhile the role of Filch was originally portrayed by David Bradley in the eight films. Whitehouse is a Welsh actor who has worked in projects like The Fast Show and Harry & Paul.

Other confirmed roles for the series include that of Albus Dumbledore who will be portrayed by John Lithgow.
