The celebrities with Dominican roots, such as Cardi B and Zoe Saldana, took to social media to express their sorrow over the sudden collapse of the Jet Set nightclub roof.

The heartbreaking occurrence took place on April 8 and caused the deaths of around 124 attendees, while dozens more who were rescued from under the rubble are currently hospitalized and seeking treatment for their injuries.

The venue was the favourite gathering place of many beloved celebrities such as famed merengue singer Rubby Pérez and Major League Baseball star Tony Blanco who were present at the location during the time the tragedy took place, and have since passed away.

In response to the upsetting news, Zoe , who has Dominican lineage from both her parents, reposted an Instagram story that read, “Today, our hearts break over the tragic roof collapse a Jetset nightclub in the Dominican Republic.”

“Sending love and strength to the victims, their families, and all those affected. In times of loss, may we come together in solidarity and compassion,” the statement, originally published by Cinestar Pictures, concluded.

The Emilia Pérez actress was joined by Cardi B, who posted a map cutout of the Dominican Republic on her official account with a black ribbon, a gesture that symbolizes mourning.

Emilio Estefan, the 19-time Grammy winner, also expressed condolences on behalf of him and his family, writing, “All united with the Dominican Republic in this moment of sorrow. We share the sadness of a great country that we love so much. Our prayers are with all the affected families. Emilio, Gloria, and the Estefan family.”
