Why Jennifer Aniston ended friendship with 'rude' and 'obnoxious' Chelsea Handler

Jennifer Aniston may have famously said “I’ll be there for you,” but that apparently wasn’t the case when it came to her friendship with Chelsea Handler.

According to a new report by the Daily Mail, Aniston, 56, was forced to distance herself from Handler, 50, after the duo’s once-close friendship took a dramatic turn.

Aniston, known for being “private” and preferring to stay out of the public eye, reportedly grew uncomfortable with Handler’s outspoken and often controversial persona.

“Perhaps a breakdown was always inevitable,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding that while Handler thrives on being “front and center”, Aniston prefers a quieter life.

The pair’s friendship began in 2009 after Aniston appeared on Chelsea Lately and they quickly became inseparable. However, their close bond reportedly hit a rough patch when Handler repeatedly mentioned Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in interviews.

Handler, known for her sharp tongue, once took a swipe at Jolie, 48, calling her a “[expletive] lunatic” and suggesting she led Pitt, 61, down a destructive path during their marriage.

Aniston allegedly “took issue” with Handler’s comments, feeling that her personal life was being dragged into the public eye unnecessarily.

The tension only escalated after Aniston’s marriage to Justin Theroux, 53. The source claimed that Theroux was “not a fan” of Handler, describing her as “rude and obnoxious”.

“Chelsea encouraged Jennifer to ‘act single’ during her marriage to Justin, which caused friction between them,” the source claimed.

When Aniston and Theroux split in 2018, the Morning Show star reportedly became “paranoid” about potential leaks to the press and allegedly began “pointing the finger” at Handler.

“Chelsea was in her wide group of friends but never made it into that elite circle. Chelsea seemed willing to do anything to be a star, and Jennifer was already a big name, so of course there were hints of jealousy.”

“They’re cordial, but it’s not the deep friendship it once was,” the source concluded.
