The hip-hop world might have witnessed the beginning of its next major rivalry.
Playboi Carti is basking in the success of his recent album MUSIC as he became the first rapper in history to feature 31 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week.
The Magnolia rapper recently bragged about his achievement on Instagram by posting the chart screenshot with an intriguing caption.
In the caption, Carti tagged Gio Ramos and said, “Ya ex could never,” stirring speculation about who the rapper was referring to.
The speculation was seemingly ended by Lil Yachty in a now-deleted post on X, formerly Twitter.
Yachty indirectly addressed Carti and clarified that the relationship between him and Ramos was “always platonic.”
Even though Carti and Yachty were never publicly involved in an outright feud, there have been some comparisons between the two in the past.
Yachty has previously been accused by DJ Akademiks of emulating Carti, prompting him to claim that Tyler, The Creator has a significant influence on him.
As of now, the two rappers have not taken a dig at each other since the aforementioned comments.
However, Yachty later went on to playfully mock his buddy Drake on his Instagram burner account.
The 27-year-old shared a TikTok video with the text, "When your homebody flash 20 bands and body slam you in front of the h*es."
The text also includes comments by Yachty claiming that Drake has done the same thing “more times than I can count.”
Ironically, the last major hip-hop rivalry was between Yachty’s friend Drake and Kendrick Lamar. So fans now have to wait and see whether Carti and Yachty will star in the next one.
