Margot Robbie, known for her role in Barbie, is all set to re-appear on screens with new film adaptation of an acclaimed novel from the 18th century.

The Suicide Squad actress, who will star alongside Australian actor Jacob Elordi, was slammed after snaps from the set of the movie based on Wuthering Heights went viral.

Fans of Emily Bronte’s only book were furious at the casting as they came to know that Margot is about to star as the young heroine Catherine from the story, claiming it will “ruin” the novel that already has many film versions.

The pictures featured the Babylon actress wearing a dramatic, off-shoulder wedding gown with a cathedral veil that flew with the wind. She held a unique bouquet of white and blue roses with a single red flower in the middle for the scene.

The outraged users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their anger as one wrote: “Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite books and the book I ALWAYS came back to and…Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie are RUINING it.”

Another commented on the huge ball gown by saying: “Seeing Margot Robbie as Catherine from Wuthering Heights in that godawful dress just ruined my entire week.”

The book lovers were not happy at the first looks after seeing the 34-year-old actress portraying the main character that was presumably a 17-year-old in the original tale.

For the unversed, the plot revolves around the love story of Catherine and antihero Heathcliff, who gets revenge against those who kept him away from his lover.
