The New Jersey band, Gel have revealed in a shocking move that they will be calling it quits as a group.

The news comes as a surprise as they were on the rise in 2025, having dropped their latest EP, Persona in August.

They were set to go on tour with Spiritbox and Volbeat, and were also confirmed to be playing at Coachella.

In their statement, the blame for their disbandment was pinned on their guitarist, Anthony Webster. Accusing him of financial theft, endangering the group, and gross violations of their privacy.

According to Gel, he stole thousands of dollars and utilized the funds from the band on OnlyFans. They further claim that he put them in several dangerous situations, including reckless driving and threatening them online.

“Gel is no longer a band,” read the statement, “Anthony Webster has committed such heinous acts in trying to forward himself in his musical career that he’s done irreparable damage to the band in the process, and it’s affected us as human beings more than we can even attempt to explain.”

Gel stated that Webster controlled their finances and cut off their access, only using it for his own expenses. The most harrowing claim was that he had leaked nude pictures of the band members on Reddit, “Let that one really sink in. He did that all while still in a band with us.”

Explaining why they did not leave the “abusive” situation earlier, they added, “This is our life’s work, our passion. It’s not so easy to just give something up. We saw it through to the very end, until it simply couldn’t go on anymore.”

The band concluded, “We are so sorry that we have to end it this way. Take care of each other, and love your friends.”
