Martin Klebba, one of the actors in the upcoming Snow White live action, has opened up about the controversy surrounding the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Voicing Grumpy, one of the seven dwarfs, he gave his thoughts on the plans for the film’s premiere on March 15, “It really isn’t going to be a red carpet. It’s going to be at the El Capitan [Theatre], which is cool. But it’s basically going to be a pre-party, watch the movie, and that’s it."

"There’s not going to be this whole hoopla of, ‘Disney’s first f****** movie they ever made.’ Because of all this controversy, they’re afraid of the blowback from different people in society," he added.

The actor also claimed that plans for the original California premiere had been changed due to “the controversy with Rachel," referring to the star of the film, Rachel Zegler. However, he admitted that he "had not been given direct information on why the event was altered."

A source that spoke to People claimed, "Nothing was scaled back. It was always the plan to have an afternoon event for families as Disney has done in the past on other family films."

The film has faced major backlash since the beginning, starting with racist criticism at Zegler’s casting due to her Latinx background. She faced further criticism when she revealed that the origin of her name would be different, going on to call the original story “dated” and saying that Prince Charming “literally stalks” Snow White.
