Rapper Pras Michel is looking towards US President Donald Trump to receive clemency.

The 52-year-old is facing up to 20 years in prison after the US District Court for the District of Columbia found him guilty in a foreign influence scheme.

Michel was involved in an alleged criminal conspiracy with Malaysian financier Jho Low in the high-profile 1Malaysia Development Berhad, better known as the 1MDB scandal.

Talking to TMZ from his jail cell, Michel revealed his legal team is seeking a pardon from the Oval Office. The former member of the hip-hop group, Fugees, also expressed his “love” for the president.

“At the end of the day, there’s always going to be love for any president, no matter what, and he’s the current president and you know, look to him,” said the Grammy Award winner.

Michel continued, "And all we can do is wish that, you know, wish the best for him and we all gotta play our part... so big up to him and everything he got going on and obviously I hope he turn an eye on me, obviously."

Michel was found guilty of ten criminal counts, including acting as an unregistered foreign government agent, after a three-week trial in 2023.

Meanwhile, businessman Jho Low is currently wanted for his alleged role in the 1MDB scandal.
