American actress Amanda Seyfried, who played the lead role of Sophie in the musical comedy Mamma Mia!, addressed the fan-favorite question of who will play the lead role in the next edition of the series.
Previously, it was widely believed that the American pop-star Sabrina Carpenter would be the perfect choice for the role, but it was never addressed by the makers of the movie.
The 39-year-old finally addressed the possibility in a playful manner on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. When asked about the 25-year-old singer playing her daughter, Seyfried said “Big fan, big fan!”.
“Somebody said she was a fan of the musical, and they said ‘Couldn’t she play your daughter one day?’, they fed it to me and I was like yeah that would be great.” said the actress.
“I’m aging as everybody does.” remarking that she can not be the main character again.
The mother-daughter relationship is a core theme of the movie as Cher played the main lead Sophie’s grandmother and Meryl Streep played Sophie’s mother.
