Adrien Brody’s bizarre move at Oscars gives viewers the ick
Adrien Brody claimed the winning spot in the Best Actor category for the flick 'The Brutalist'
Adrien Brody, took home the second Oscar of his career, however his acceptance speech left a lot of viewers unhappy.
He claimed the winning spot in the Best Actor category for his role in the flick The Brutalist, previously being the youngest actor in the category for The Pianist.
Before he went on stage to accept the award, he took his gum out of his mouth and threw it to his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman who caught it.
Viewers quickly took to social media to express their feelings about the bizarre move, as one person wrote on X, "I would never degrade my partner like this. Georgina — you’re 0 for 2 in picking men. You deserve better."
"You’ve just won the Oscar; why not put that gum in the pocket of the tux?,” questioned another.
Several other comments criticized the act with words like, “Gross”, and “Who does that?”
Viewers also seemed to be irked that Brody had beat out other stars like Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) for the category.
If Chalamet had been the one to take home the win, he would have beat Brody’s record for youngest actor to claim the top spot in the category.
