Taylor Lautner claps back at Selena Gomez's haters: 'Be a little nicer'

Taylor Lautner has spoken out in defense of Selena Gomez after the singer became the target of insensitive comments about her appearance on social media.

The 33-year-old Twilight star took to Instagram to repost a video from body positivity influencer Alex Light, which showcased a collage of Gomez alongside years of contradictory criticism about her body.

In his post, Lautner condemned the toxic culture of body shaming, writing: "It's a cruel world full of hate out there. You can never please everyone nor should you have to. In my experience, it doesn’t make the words sting less, it just refocuses you onto what matters."

He continued: "And it sure isn’t the shape, color, or appearance of your body. Daily reminder to all of us to not forget how beautiful you are inside and out… and be a little bit nicer."

Gomez has previously been open about her health struggles, including her lupus diagnosis, which has affected her weight and body image.
