Selena Gomez reveals who introduced her to Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez, an American singer, and her beau Benny Blanco sat down for their first joint interview with Interview magazine where they opened up about their relationship.

She revealed that her mother, Mandy Teefey was the one who had ended up introducing the two. “I was around 16, 17.”

“And we first had music come out in 2013 or something,” Blanco added, “Her mom set up a meeting between the two of us. This is right when I became big and she wasn’t a singer yet.”

“When she started putting out music, I was so into it. I feel like she was the original sad girl," he continued, “Everyone was like [beatboxes] and she was like, [sings] ‘I just want to look good for you.’ [Laughs] I was drawn to it."

“It was really simple,” Gomez said when revealing when she developed feelings for the other, “We got in the studio to work on a song and we just talked; that’s how easy it was for me. I liked him before he liked me.”

Admitting that he had no clue about her feelings, Blanco said, “I hadn’t thought about it at all. And then we were texting afterwards and we decided to get dinner the next day. I guess she thought it was a date and I had no idea it was a date.”

He has previously contributed to her Revival album, which was the start of their professional relationship. Their romantic relationship began in 2023, with Blanco revealing that she was the one who asked him out. They were engaged by December 2024.
