Alan Cumming, a veteran Scottish actor, reflected on his previous films while appearing on Vanity Fair’s Scene Selection.
One of his most iconic roles is that of Fegan Floop from the Spy Kids films.
Having begun in 2001 with the first Spy Kids, he claimed, “It’s so changed how people approach me.”
“If you were a child in 2001, you’re an adult. And I remember exactly the moment when young people — young adults — changed their reaction to me when they saw me in public. It went from being like, ‘Oh, famous guy,’ to ‘Mr. Floop! You’re a part of my childhood!’ And it’s continued,” he continued.
The actor added, “I love the idea that I have been a magical part of people’s childhood. It’s such a lovely thing.”
One of the child stars in the franchise was Selena Gomez, who starred in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Revealing that they recently ran into each other, Cumming said, “She was so cute. She goes, ‘I wondered if you’d remember.’”
Recalling which keepsake he took from the set, he claimed that it was Mr. Floop’s sofa, "It’s in my house in the Catskills, a funny purple sofa and it has a curly bit. And whenever I see clips of Spy Kids I’m always looking for my sofa in the background.”
