Kate McKinnon reenacts Macaulay Culkin's Christmas wish scene from Home Alone

Kate McKinnon dressed up like Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone 2 to make a Christmas wish.

Saturday Night Live released a new promo on Wednesday, December 13, for the upcoming episode of the comedy sketch.

In the clip, the 39-year-old comedian and actress could be seen standing in front of a giant christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza at the heart of New York City.

Just how Culkin, now 43, who as a child actor played the role of Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2 Lost in New York, made a wish in front of the lit up tree to see his mom again, McKinnon also made a wish.

The actress dressed up as young McCallister began, "I know you’re probably feeling a lot of Christmas wishes right now, but I’d like to add one myself if that’s OK".

She then went on to say, "I’d really love to host SNL this week with musical guest Billie Eilish. I know! I know it’s a big ask".

While sharing how much she missed performing at the iconic NBC show, one of the cast members, Kenan Thompson interrupted her by shouting her name from behind.

Thompson said, "We’re waiting for you so we can start rehearsing," a confused Mckinnon asked her "for what?" to which Kenan replied, "for the show that you’re hosting this week".

Just as McCallister’s wish was granted in seconds, the Barbie actress couldn’t believe that her wish "actually f****** worked", and giddily walked towards the 45-year-old comedian.

Thompson inquired Mckinnon why no one informed her beforehand regarding her hosting gig, to which she responded, “I dropped my phone in the toilet in September.”

“It’s a classic Kate” he remarked with a smile.

The upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, in which the two-time Emmy award winner will be hosting her first ever gig will be aired on Saturday December 16 on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET, and streams live on Peacock.
