Sarah Ferguson’s Breast Cancer surgery was not easy at all.
It has been revealed that Sarah Ferguson's successful mastectomy procedure lasted over eight hours.
The Duchess of York, also known as Fergie, had the treatment done after a shadow was found during a routine scan. A pal has now disclosed that the procedure was much more difficult than originally thought.
"The surgery was very long — getting on for eight hours — and it was more involved than people think," the friend told The Mail on Sunday.
According to PEOPLE, plastic surgeon Stuart James performed the intricate reconstructive surgery while surgeon Christina Choy performed the operation at the King Edward VII Hospital in London.
Ferguson, 63, is recovering in Windsor's Royal Lodge, where she lives with her ex-husband Prince Andrew.
Her oldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, as well as her daughter Princess Eugenie, who recently gave birth to her second son, Ernst, are spending a lot of time with her.
"Her daughters have been there a lot, they have been very supportive," as per PEOPLE.
The Duchess was lauded by Fergie's friend Daphne Barak in an interview with the Mail on Sunday.
"How could this be happening to my kind, loving friend?" she said. "I was taken aback by her bravery."
