Daniel Day-Lewis spotted in NYC walking with crutches

Reclusive and retired actor Daniel Day-Lewis, known for his exceptional talent and Academy Award-winning performances, was recently spotted in New York City on Sunday, relying on crutches for support. 

The 66-year-old star, who has shied away from the limelight since his retirement from acting in 2017, emerged from a building with the assistance of crutches, while a considerate man held the door open for him.

Despite his low-key lifestyle, Day-Lewis seemed at ease in his casual attire, wearing a black T-shirt, blue sweatpants, and a green cap to complement his silver locks. 

Engrossed in a conversation, he grasped a flip phone giving a throwback to a simpler era.

Back in May, he was photographed in public for the first time in four years, generating considerable intrigue among his fans and the entertainment industry.

He was photographed travelling on the New York City subway. Even then, he adhered to his understated fashion sense, opting for a black beanie hat, thick-rimmed glasses, and a sleek black jacket.

In 1996, Day-Lewis tied the knot with Rebecca Miller, an accomplished American filmmaker and novelist. Together, they share the joy of raising two children.

Throughout his illustrious career, which spanned fewer than 20 movies, he carved a name for himself as one of the most exceptional actors of his generation. 

Following his retirement announcement in 2017, he expressed a deep sense of melancholy despite his firm conviction to step away from acting. 

It was a decision driven by an internal compulsion, resulting in a great sadness that permeated his departure from the craft that had defined his life.
