The Galactic Starcruiser, a sensory-rich hotel with a Star Wars motif that costs almost $5,000 for two nights, is being closed down by Disney World. The Starcruiser will host its last visitors from September 28 to September 30 according to a website update from Disney.
"We are so proud of all of the Cast Members and Imagineers who brought Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to life and look forward to delivering an excellent experience for Guests during the remaining voyages over the coming months," Disney’s update says. "Thank you to our Guests and fans for making this experience so special."
Disney's Galatic Starcruiser has only been operating since March 2022, when it initially welcomed visitors. The opulent hotel, which is based on the Halcyon in Star Wars, has intricate decor, interactive activities, themed meals, and live entertainment that lasts for two nights. Disney doesn't exactly make the stay very reasonable, either, with a fee of about $4,807 for two adults (or $5,999 for three adults and one child).
However, there have been indications that the experience might have been having trouble. Disney said in March that it would reduce its usual three to four weekly bookings to two weekly bookings beginning in October. Disney won't have the opportunity to make this improvement because Halcyon is scheduled to close in September.
Disney states that it will get in touch with anyone who has reservations for dates on or after September 30 "to discuss your options and modify your plans."
Additionally, until May 26th, the business will not accept any new reservations as it attends to impacted customers. In response to The Verge's request for comment, Disney delayed their response.
