B5 vocalist Dustin Michael unveils secret romance with transgender woman

Dustin Michael of R&B group B5 is in a relationship with a transgender woman.

The 35-year-old singer took to Instagram Tuesday to reveal that he has been dating transgender director D. Smith after knowing each other for nearly 10 years.

The confession comes following the death of transgender star Rasheeda Williams aka Koko Da Doll, renowned for her role in Smith’s award-winning documentary Kokomo City in Atlanta, Georgia.

Michael revealed that he felt compelled to publicize his love for Smith in an attempt to support her through this hard time.

“I’m in a very beautiful relationship with someone who makes me very happy…my girlfriend is transgender, her name is D. Smith.”

He continued, “I don’t want to be one of the men benefiting from a trans woman in private and not celebrate her publicly.”

D. Smith took to her own feed to repost the video and wrote: “I’m so proud of you. We’ve known each other for almost 10 years now and every moment with you was always validating.

“So many men only dream of being as brave as you are,” she continued. “Thank you for being the example of a human just loving a human. I’m so grateful for your heart, ambition, and spirit! I love you.”
