Chyler Leigh has revealed the one heartbreaking regret she carries from her return to Grey’s Anatomy.
The 44-year-old actress, beloved by fans as Dr Lexie Grey, opened up about revisiting the hit medical drama during its emotional season 17 dream-sequence storyline.
The scenes reunited Lexie with her former flame Dr Mark Sloan, played by Eric Dane, but pandemic restrictions meant the pair never actually shared the set together.
Speaking about the experience, Chyler admitted she was “really bummed” that strict COVID rules prevented her from travelling from Vancouver, where she was filming Supergirl.
Instead, her scenes were shot remotely using green-screen technology while Eric filmed separately.
Looking back, The Way Home actress confessed her biggest regret was missing the opportunity to perform the long-awaited reunion face-to-face with the late actor.
The emotional revelation comes just months after Eric’s tragic death at the age of 52 after a battle with ALS.
The actor, who also found huge success as Cal Jacobs in Euphoria, remained a fan favourite thanks to his unforgettable role as Mark Sloan.
Lexie and Mark’s romance is still considered one of the most iconic love stories in Grey’s Anatomy history.
Fans were left devastated when both characters met tragic ends after the infamous season eight plane crash.
Despite her sadness over their final on-screen reunion, Chyler fondly remembered working with Eric, describing him as “a wonderful human being” and praising his warmth, humour and infectious laugh.
Following his death, the Supergirl actress admitted she was overwhelmed with grief, revealing she broke down in tears when the news finally sank in.
Now, however, Kickboxing Academy star says she is finding comfort in the memories they shared, choosing to focus on the “incredible moments” they created together both on and off screen.
