Aubrey Plaza recalls doing something ‘terrible’.
In a recently-rediscovered interview, Aubrey Plaza alleged that a film director had had her do sex acts on camera in front of a room full of guys.
In 2013, Plaza made an appearance on 'Conan' to promote the bawdy romantic comedy 'The To Do List' starring Maggie Carey. The movie followed the actress' high school-aged character as she set out to, shall we say, pop a number of cherries before going off to college.
Conan O'Brien questioned Plaza about the scene in which she pleasures herself, and Plaza claimed that Carey—Bill Hader's ex-wife and another cast member—told her to perform the action in real life.
“I read it on the page, and it said, ‘Brandy masturbates,'” the “White Lotus” star, now 38, explained in the interview at the time.
“And in my head, I envisioned a nice scene where you just see my hand slowly go out of frame.
“That’s what I thought I was going into, but when I showed up, the camera was mounted on the ceiling,” she continued.
“I was in my underwear and a [Bill] Clinton T-shirt, and there were a bunch of old men smoking — you know, the crew guys.”
Plaza, who was clearly uncomfortable, said that she had made up the smoking part.
“I asked the director, ‘What should I do?'” she recalled.
“And she said, ‘Masturbate — like it says in the script.’
The "Parks and Recreation" star said, "And then I went and I touched myself," expressing her shock at the "full-body shot," which omitted her privates.
Plaza shared with the Oregonian the same year that “the masturbating scene was … the most nerve-racking.”
“In my head, I thought, ‘Oh, we’ll probably shoot this in a way where I don’t really have to really do it,'” she shared.
“But then when we did it … I was like, ‘Oh, no, we’re going to shoot it where I do it.'”
