Princess Azemah Bolkiah, daughter of Sultan of Brunei weds her first cousin

Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah weds Prince Bahar ibni Jefri Bolkian.

The wedding celebrations for Princess 'Azemah, 38, and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah started on January 8 in Borneo's sovereign sultanate. Borneo is an island in Southeast Asia.

According to Tatler, Prince Bahar and Prince Jefri Bolkiah are first cousins because Prince Bahar is the brother of the sultan.

Seven rituals were held in the days that followed, according to the Borneo Bulletin, and the event started in the banquet hall of Istana Nurul Iman, the sultan's formal house.

A gift exchange, the display of the royal insignia, a three-day wedding ceremony, a dining celebration, and a formal conclusion was among the customs.

Prince Mateen, the younger brother of Princess 'Azemah, posted images from the Powdering Ceremony on January 11 and the final wedding ceremony on January 15 on social media, providing an insight into the wedding.

Prince Mateen, 31, captioned an Instagram carousel that featured the bride wearing a sparkling gown and the groom sporting a spotless white military uniform, "So pleased for my dearest big sister and BJB."

Local media reported that Princess 'Azemah's wedding date was revealed in November.

Princess Azemah is the fifth of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei's 12 daughters, according to the Daily Mail.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah met with King Charles III in December after attending the official funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September with his son Prince Mateen.
