Mike Tyson, ex-wife Robin Given's marriage controversy unveiled

Third episode of Hulu's uber-popular miniseries aired yesterday and many are now curious about the relationship between former professional boxer Mike Tyson and model Robin Givens. 

Now starting from the beginning Robin was an aspiring star when she met Tyson back in the late 1980's and at that time he was already an established heavy-weight boxing champion, defeating the likes of Trevor Berbick. 

After dating for a year or so, the two decided to bind each other in a holy matrimony but unfortunately the marriage only lasted for a year as the couple got divorced on Valentines Day. 

While the world saw the marriage between the "Iron Mike" Tyson and the celebrity as a happy one, Givens soon revealed her version of the story in which the boxer was abusive and mentally ill.

During a joint interview with Barbara Walters on ABC 20/20, Givens levelled some harsh allegations describing the whole journey as pure hell torture. 

"There are times when I thought I could handle it, and just recently, I’ve become afraid.  mean very, very much afraid." 

To note, the divorce was based on spousal abuse and the judge immediately granted the model a restraining order. 

Shortly after this incident, Tyson took to the media to state that Givens tried to steal his possessions. He also took a dig at Givens' mother, Ruth Roper, according to reports.

However, following this Givens reputation tarnished and she had to face many criticisms from her fans and the press and many labelled her 'gold-digger.'
