According to Variety, Matt Damon got emotional during standing ovation after premier of his new film titled Stillwater at Cannes Film Festival.
The film is directed by Tom McCarthy and is inspired by life of Amanda Knox case.
Damon said he had to immerse himself with oil rig workers in Oklahoma for his character as an American travelling to France to help his daughter who is in jail.
While talking about his film, Damon said, “Being invited into their homes, into a backyard barbecue, a guitar comes out and they start singing church songs. It’s a very specific place.. and very different to where I grew up.”
He added, “It was really eye-opening for me.”
