D4vd case takes new turn after Celeste Rivas texts surface

Singer d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is facing new details in the case involving the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The text messages between Burke and Rivas were presented in court Friday, on 24 July, during the fourth day of a preliminary hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court.

The messages reportedly included discussions about pregnancy, abortion, birth control and the end of their relationship.

Burke, 20, has been charged with killing Rivas, whose remains were found in the trunk of his Tesla.

In a January 8, 2024 text exchange, Rivas wrote: “Both of us aren’t able to take care of it.”

Burke replied: “I know but still.”

According to LAPD robbery homicide Detective Corey Farell’s testimony, authorities found more than 40 images of child sexual abuse material linked to Rivas and additional photos showing sexual activity on Burke’s phone.

The prosecution claimed their communication began in 2022, when Rivas was 11, and later involved allegations of an inappropriate relationship.

Following the charges, Burke continues to deny the accusations after pleading not guilty and remains in custody at Los Angeles County jail.
