Oprah Winfrey reflected on a short stint as a singer in her career, calling it one of the biggest mistakes of her life.

During an appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, the Nope actress started her show with singing to which Winfrey quickly shut her down.

“Girl, please,” the former talk show host said, realising that Palmer was singing the theme song of Oprah.

Winfrey confessed, “That is one of the mistakes of my career.”

For the unversed, the media mogul reportedly sang her own theme song briefly in the late ‘90s, and her show aired nationally between 1986 and 2011.

However, Winfrey reiterated, “It is a mistake.”

Recalling how it all began, the former talk show host told Palmer, “What happened was I was trying to decide, am I gonna end the show or not end the show?”

“And then I had a little talk with Jesus, and Jesus said, you gotta keep going. And so, I said, you know, there’s this song. It’s an old spiritual,’” the 72-year-old continued.

Elaborating on why the song didn’t work on her popular series, Winfrey blamed herself, realising, “I can’t sing,” she remarked, “even though I took the singing lessons.”

“It was pretty bad,” she added.
