Tom Holland has revealed he quietly cheered on wife Zendaya from the sidelines while she filmed one of her biggest scenes in The Odyssey and his heartfelt confession has melted fans’ hearts.
The Spider-Man star admitted he slipped onto the set in nothing more than a hoodie and sweatpants so he could watch the 29-year-old actress deliver a pivotal performance as the goddess Athena during the dramatic Siege of Troy sequence.
Speaking to CTV’s E Talk, Tom smiled as he recalled staying out of the way while soaking up the moment.
“I was there when she shot her big massive scene,” he said, explaining that he simply hid in the corner and enjoyed watching her work.
“I’m here if you need me,” he remembered thinking, adding that it was a special experience for both of them.
Although the 30-year-old actor joked that his character, Telemachus, never received any of Athena’s famous wisdom, he and the Euphoria star did share scenes together in Christopher Nolan’s ambitious adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic.
The Impossible actor also admitted that joining a Christopher production for the first time was both thrilling and daunting.
Surrounded by experienced stars, Tom said he and Zendaya often leaned on veteran cast members for reassurance, joking that they were constantly wondering if they were doing things the right way.
He recently shared another behind-the-scenes surprise, revealing that the 55-year-old director personally asked if he would mind Zendaya joining the cast.
Far from objecting, the Uncharted actor said he felt honoured, knowing how much his wife admires the Oscar-winning filmmaker.
He added that Interstellar has long been her favourite Nolan film, making the opportunity even more meaningful.
