Angelina Jolie has filed new court documents opposing Brad Pitt’s request for several years of her tax returns and financial records as the former couple’s legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval, continues.

According to court filings, Pitt is seeking documents from 2017 to 2019, arguing that Jolie’s financial condition is central to her defence in the case.

His legal team contends that because Jolie cited a desire for financial independence when she sold her stake in the winery, records of her income and profit participation are relevant to determining whether she truly had limited alternatives.

Jolie’s attorneys have rejected that argument, claiming Pitt has repeatedly misrepresented her statements.

According to Daily Mail, they insist the actress never argued she was experiencing financial hardship, but instead sought to separate her finances from what they described in court filings as her “controlling and abusive ex-husband.”

Moreover, Pitt has consistently denied allegations of abuse.

Her legal team also argued that handing over older tax returns would unnecessarily invade her privacy, noting that she has already voluntarily produced financial records for 2020 and 2021 during the litigation.

The dispute stems from Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit alleging Jolie improperly sold her stake in Château Miraval to the Stoli Group without his consent, despite what he claims was an agreement requiring mutual approval.

Jolie has denied violating any agreement and has accused Pitt of using the lawsuit to maintain control following their separation.
